High in the Venezuelan Andes of South America, Terra is not a place you happen upon — you have to want to reach it. From Mérida the road climbs a long way into the mountains, up through Mucuchíes and higher into the highlands, until the asphalt runs out and the village of Gavidia opens up: hamlets of stone and tile, fields of potato and garlic, and mountains that change color with the light of the day. Here, among the hills and overlooking the valley, sits this farm house — a handmade place of wood, brick and stone, at the end of the road and worth every mile of the journey.
A two-story house in brick and stone, with natural wood floors, tiled roofs and exposed beams. A double-height living room with a staircase to the mirador loft, a full kitchen, a wine cellar, a fireplace and bathrooms with period tubs.
A cluster of rustic stone-and-adobe rooms with galleries, dining areas and several bedrooms. Cane ceilings, clay-tile floors and windows that frame the mountains from every corner.
Over 100,000 sq ft of land high in the highlands, with cultivable ground, gardens, stone-paved patios and a natural spring on the property. A step away from Sierra Nevada National Park.
Installed solar panels and working satellite internet: the calm of the mountains without giving up power or a connection to the world.
